Lone worker geolocation, what is it?

On a construction site, regardless of its size, safety of operators and management of resources are essential. When we know that 40% of occupational accidents in France concern workers, we quickly realize that there is considerable room for improvement. Using a geolocation solution for workers will make it possible to respond to this challenge by improving their safety, as well as optimize the management of teams and subcontractors. Knowing in real time the number of operators present on site and knowing in which zone or on which floor they are located will actually make it possible to avoid numerous accidents. For example, in the event of an incident (fire, collapse, etc.), each operator will receive an audible and visual alarm telling them to evacuate. In addition to enhancing worker safety, this type of solution will also enable to secure the site by restricting access to it to persons equipped with a badge. Improving the safety of a construction site also means improving its overall performance by streamlining the intervention of the various trades and avoiding potential delays.

How does the geolocation of lone workers work?

From a technical point of view, the lone worker geolocation solution is based on an extremely light infrastructure consisting of fixed and mobile tags that create a mesh network . The fixed tags, also called "anchors", are placed at regular intervals on the walls of the construction site, and the mobile tags, 100% anonymous, are worn by the operators (glued to the construction helmet or worn as a badge).

The location information is calculated from the signal intensity (RSSI) emitted by the mobile beacons and sent back via the network of fixed beacons to the industrial gateways. Placed in a few strategic locations, these gateways will centralize the raw data and transmit it to the client's server. The information will be transformed into GPS data by the positioning tool Wirepas Positioning Engine. Once the data has been transformed, the end user will be able to view it on the business application.

On this visualization platform, the end user will be able to visualize on a Google Maps type map the position of the operators on the site and their distribution according to zones. It will also be able to send them an audible (Buzzer) and visual (LED) warning in the event of an evacuation plan. Real decision tools, dashboards provide factual information about the organization of the site and facilitate arbitration and decision making.

Why integrate Jaxicloud Fleet Management Innovation location tags into your lone worker protection solution?

Jaxicloud Innovation location tags are ideal for meeting the geolocation and protection needs of lone workers for a variety of reasons:

100% autonomous, compact and robust

Their battery operation provides up to 14 years of battery life.

These beacons are perfectly suited for extreme environments.

Quick and easy installation Ultra-simple to install thanks to the different attachment methods (high-performance double-sided sticker or screwable support), these beacons can be attached to all types of surfaces and require no wiring.

Geolocation without GPS

This solution is based on Wirepa's Mesh positioning technology that does not require cables and works without GPS. It is therefore very easy to implement in all types of places, including underground

Geolocation in real time

The indoor location technology used provides an accuracy of up to 5m depending on needs. The location tags used embed a 3-axis accelerometer, allowing them to more quickly update positioning data as the operator moves.
